Marilyn Mugford (Sundermann)

My husband, Gary Sunderman, and I have three sons, three daughters-in-law and 7.5 grandchildren.

The oldest is 5 years old so you can imagine how busy it is when all of them are at our home.  We just

celebrated our 25th anniversary - it is the second marriage for both of us.  We really enjoy traveling,

scuba diving, and spending time on our boat at Port Sanilac, north of Port Huron.

I am employed as the assistant superintendent for administrative services of South Lyon Community

Schools.  We're a rapidly growing district of 6700 students in southwest Oakland County.  I am

responsible for human resources, labor relations, and communications for the district.  It's a great

job because there is something new and different every day.  The best part of my job is hiring new teachers -

I have hired more than 450 in the last nine years.   However, this is my 37th year in the district (I taught

for 18 years and was high school assistant principal for 9 years) and I'm getting close to making the

decision to retire.  One neat coincidence about my job is that my office is in a building that the district

shares with the city of South Lyon, and since Rod Cook is the city manger,  we work in

the same building.

Hopefully, I will be able to attend the 45th reunion - judging by the pictures the

40th looks like it was a lot of fun.  September, 2003
