I received this from Bob Heriford on Friday, March 20th:
Classmates,
Mike Lauzun passed away this morning at 6:08 AM in a cancer care unit in
Florida.
Mike did not want anything special and not a hint of sadness but a celebration
of life and controlled mayhem!!! It might be nice to send your thoughts of Mike
to our website for a remembrance of Mike and the good times he offered us all.
Don't know if this has been done before but it is a way of honoring him.
Although Dan and Linda loved and cared about Mike, they do not want to
disregard Mike's wishes. It might be nice to send them a card letting them know
of your special remembrance of Mike. Just a thought...Dan and Linda Lauzun,
908 Chads Way, Charlotte, MI 48813. They will not be home from Florida
for a couple of weeks. You might plant a flower for Mike since he loved the
color and vibrance of life unfettered by any hurtful tendencies (like us
sometimes.)
_____________________________________________________________________________
Her are my thoughts of Mike: He was such a gentle spirit always willing to give
of himself or his "wealth" so that others might have enough. When he lived with
me in Florida we would play cribbage, crack jokes (mostly of each other), watch
golfers from the patio, have a beer and watch the Sand Hill Cranes (mighty big
birds) and he would often feed them. I told him not to because they would
attack our back porch screen looking for him and grub. So he would go to where
they were. He could cook and made 50 gallons of Chili which I am still eating
to this day.
He loved
working on the golf course and took special pride in flowers and gardening.
In high school we were close and often went to Woody's pool hall to play pool
and act like little hoodlums. He was quick of wit, kind of nice looking (don't
get the wrong idea) and a friend to just about everyone. I love the guy and he
will always be a part of my life. Here's to you old friend...Bye Mike, see ya!!
Maybe classmates here in Lansing
could get together for the celebration of life he wanted, bring pictures of him
and kick it around...just a thought.

A TRIBUTE TO MIKE LAUZEN FROM HIS CLASSMATE, DAWN WELCH
Although I did not have the privilege of sharing time with Mike Lauzun after our graduation, he was someone I never forgot. Mike always had such a kind a pleasant way about him that made you enjoy his company. He was also very handsome and charming in my eyes. As friends, we all shared some really fun times together. We were given the opportunity to send notes to him during the final season of his life, for which I am thankful. Although I did not know Mike as well as I would have liked to, Bob Heriford shared much about his good friend, and any friend of Bob’s, is a friend of mine. I want to thank Bob and Tom Bradley for their efforts to keep us informed of things concerning the precious friends we have had the privilege of enjoying in our lifetime. I extend my condolences to family and friends of Mike, and share in the loss of his passing. It is a reminder to us all of how very precious each day and every friend is. I am grateful for each of you in our class of ‘63, and for the honor of having known Mike Lauzun. God bless you, each and every one. Dawn Welch Pratt
